Youth Music

The Youth Choir is open to ALL 6^th - 12^th grade youth who enjoy singing praises to the King! The choir rehearses on Wednesdays, 6:30-7:15 PM, during the school year, and provides music during Sunday morning worship throughout the year. No audition or previous experience is required, and new members are welcome at anytime! The FVUMC Youth Choir is led by Associate Director of Music Ministries, Noah Melton.

The Youth Handbell Choir is open to ALL 6^th - 12^th grade youth - previous experience and the ability to read music are not required! The Youth Handbell Choir is currently recruiting interested members, and will form when enough ringers have signed up. Contact the Director of Music Ministries today if you are interested in participating!

Pulse, The Youth Praise Team is open to 7^th - 12^th grade youth and provides music on a regular basis for youth gatherings, in addition to occasionally providing music for Sunday morning worship services. The group includes auditioned instrumentalists and vocalists. Auditions are held annually in August - anyone interested in participating should contact the Director of Music Ministries.

Kidz NPraise is a children’s music program open to all kids four years old through fifth grade. The program meets on Wednesday afternoons during the school year and includes the following components:

For 4 & 5 year olds and Kindergarten

4:00-4:45 PM
NPraise Jr. - children’s choir for four & five year olds and kindergarteners, packed full of singing, movement, instruments & more!

4:45-5:15 PM
Kidz NPlay Jr. Extended Session – an optional session for Jrs., including Bible lessons, scripture study, games & more!

5:15-6:00 PM
Ministry NMotion – an optional session for Jrs., focused on using dance to praise and worship the Lord!

For 1st – 5th grades

4:00-5:15 PM
Voices NPraise and the NPraise Singers - children’s choirs for 1st - 5th grade kids; Kidz NPlay (Bible verses, games & more!) & Kidz NMotion (choreography & movement!)

5:15-6:00 PM
Chime NKidz – an optional session for 1^st & 2^nd graders, featuring a handchime class teaching ringing and music reading basics, plus games and fun!

NPraise Ringers – an optional session for 3^rd, 4^th & 5^th graders, featuring a children’s handbell choir that will learn basic ringing skills and prepare to ring in worship.

Ministry NMotion – an optional session for 1^st – 5^th graders, featuring liturgical dance as kids prepare to praise the Lord through dance in worship and in the community.

In addition to preparing to sing in worship throughout the year, children work to present musicals and concerts, learn scripture, play games and instruments and have a ton of fun! New members are welcome at anytime. For more information, check out the Kidz NPraise brochure available below.

Music Ministries—Get Involved!
At Fuquay-Varina UMC we believe that "all God’s children have a place in the choir!" No matter what your gifts or abilities, we are all called to lift praises to our Heavenly Father, and what better way to do just that than by joining one of the many Music Ministry Programs at FVUMC! How is GOD CALLING YOU to use the gifts HE has blessed you with?

Choral Music

The Worship Choir is open to ALL adults and youth who desire to lift praises to the King! The Worship Choir sings regularly for the 10:50 am worship service and rehearses on Wednesdays, 7:00 - 8:30 PM. New members are welcome at any time, and previous experience is not required! In addition to leading worship on Sunday mornings, the Worship Choir participates in special activities throughout the year, including cantatas, choir retreats and fellowship gatherings. Childcare is provided during all rehearsals.

The Men’s and Women’s Ensembles are short term choral opportunities, open to youth and adults. Previous experience is not required, and ALL are welcome to join! Each group features only THREE rehearsals per session - this is a great way to try out singing with a FVUMC choir without a long-term commitment! 8@8 is an acoustic ensemble that provides music on a weekly basis for the 8:15 AM worship service. The group includes instrumentalists and vocalists who seek to offer praises through a contemplative style of music and worship. This is an auditioned group with occasional openings - anyone interested in participating should contact the Director of Music Ministries.

Contemporary Music

The Praise Team provides music on a weekly basis for the 9:30 AM contemporary worship service. The group includes band members and vocalists with a heart for praise and worship. This is an auditioned group that is often looking for additional members - anyone interested in participating should contact the Director of Music Ministries.

The Praise Choir works alongside the Praise Team to provide music for the 9:30 AM contemporary worship service. This group is open to ALL - no audition or previous experience required! The Praise Choir sings contemporary music with a live band. Additionally, the group participates in cantatas and fellowship events throughout the year. Rehearsals are Thursdays, 7:00-8:30 PM, and new members are welcome anytime!

Instrumental Music

The Instruments of Praise is an orchestral ensemble that regularly plays for the 10:50 AM worship service. The group is open to experienced youth and adult instrumentalists of any kind, and new members are always welcome. In addition to accompanying hymns during worship services, the group also participates in special events throughout the year, including cantatas and other seasonal programs. The Instruments of Praise rehearse bi-weekly on Wednesdays, 6 - 7 PM.

The Cantata Orchestra meets seasonally to provide orchestral accompaniment for our Christmas and Easter Cantatas. This group is open to experienced instrumentalists as space allows. The orchestra meets for rehearsals on Wednesday evenings, bi-weekly, for approximately two months prior to a cantata performance. Anyone interested in playing with the cantata orchestra should contact the Director of Music Ministries.

Souly Brass is the FVUMC Brass Ensemble. The group is open to experienced brass instrumentalists, and rehearses bi-weekly on Wednesday evenings. Souly Brass offers music during the 10:50 worship service and for other special events throughout the year. Anyone interested in participating should contact the Director of Music Ministries.

The FANFARE Bell Choir is an advanced adult handbell choir that regularly offers music for Sunday worship services and other special events throughout the year. The group also enjoys attending annual handbell festivals and playing in the Fuquay-Varina Christmas Parade! This is an auditioned group with occasional openings - anyone interested in participating with or subbing for the group should contact the Director of Music Ministries.

The Alleluia Ringers is a handbell choir open to all adults. Previous experience and the ability to read music are NOT required! Although there is limited space for participation, new members are welcome at anytime that there are openings. The group rehearses on Sundays, 3:45-4:45 PM during the school year.

Worship Arts

Ministry in Motion is a liturgical dance group open to children, youth and adults of all ages! This group uses creative movement and dance as an expression of praise to the Lord! Ministry in Motion dances in worship throughout the year and rehearsals are Wednesdays, 5:15 – 6:00 pm. Previous experience is not required. Youth Drama Team
Drama Ministry! If you are in 7-12th grade and love drama, this ministry is for you. We will be meeting on Wednesday evenings from 6:30-7:30 in room 126. Our first date scheduled for sharing our drama in worship is November 22nd, so come and don’t miss out on anything. We share dramas on Sunday mornings, Sunday nights at Lifeline Youth and in the community. Music Ministry and Worship Support

The Sound Team is a "behind the scenes" group that plays a vital role in the FVUMC Music Ministries. This group of audio equipment operators ensures that Sunday worship services and other special events can be heard clearly and without distraction in our worship space. Previous experience is not required - we will train anyone who is interested in helping! Anyone who would like to join this team should contact the Director of Music Ministries - new members are always needed!

The Power Point team is a “behind the scenes” group that is responsible for operation of Power Point and other projection programs during Sunday worship. Prior knowledge of Power Point is not required, as training is available for anyone wishing to serve in this area. Team members serve on a rotating basis, approximately once a month. Team members working during the 9:30 am worship service are also asked to attend a Thursday evening rehearsal (7:30 – 8:30 pm) during the week they are scheduled to serve. For those unable to make a regular commitment, subs are often needed and this offers an additional avenue of service.
